How To ...

In most forums there is a way to mark everything as read, as opposed to clicking on every discussion to mark it as read which can become quite burdensome on large forums.
How is this done on this new forum? Is it possible?

Hi! When you say "mark everything as read" are you asking about the process to mark the alerts that you receive here on the platform as read or the discussion threads themselves?

No - we look at the forums a few times a day, and there are several posts that we have zero interest in, but they have unread posts on them ... so there is no way to mark these as read other than opening the post and then going back to the main screen that we can find currently ... the alerts we found that you can mark all of those read, but nothing for the regular posts ...

Thanks for being such an avid user of the ConnectIT Community! At this time, there is no way to bulk update the posts in the main Discussions tab as read at this time, however, this is a feature that we're exploring. We appreciate the feedback in prioritizing ways to improve the community.

Another question here @KaseyaKatie - How do you change your forum name? Every time I go to edit my profile, it asks for my password to make these changes, and then it errors out and won't make any changes to the profile or display name or anything ...
- The actual error is - Usernames must be 3-20 characters and consist of letters, numbers, and underscores.
And my username is set to the email, and I am not even trying to change that, just adding my name and location, and company, etc.

@[email protected] - Hey! This is a great question! At this point, only Community Admins, like me, can change your display name for you, but I'm happy to do that! Just DM me what you'd like it changed to, and I'll take care of it. You should be able to change or update the other fields once we've changed your user name, which was your user name in one of our legacy platforms that had different user name requirements.

@KaseyaKatie - I'm looking to change my community user name as well. Unfortunately I cannot DM you because I seem to encounter a permission problem.
😥

@clutk - Hmm - that's odd. I checked your permissions and you should be able to private message me. Can you try again?

@KaseyaKatie Seems to work now. Maybe a one-day glitch? Maybe Sean from Spiceworks was in your playground and released a new, untested feature.
Look for a PM coming soon.
