<main> <article class="userContent"> <h1 data-id="how-to-guide-password-importer">How to Guide – Password Importer</h1> <p>Passly’s Password Importer allows you to take your saved passwords from third-party products, such as LastPass, and import them into Passly.</p> <h2 data-id="step-1-export-your-passwords">Step 1 – Export your passwords</h2> <p>First, you will need to export your passwords from the third-party product. If it allows you to export into a csv file, do so.</p> <h2 data-id="step-2-create-the-csv-file-for-passly">Step 2 – Create the .csv file for Passly</h2> <p>In order to import your passwords into Passly, you will need to create a specific .csv file. It can be named whatever you like. It must have the following headers and the “Web” Password Type.</p> <p><img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6032361/uploads/migrated/V72X1RD8LM4D/mceclip0.png" alt="mceclip0.png" class="embedImage-img importedEmbed-img"></img></p> <ol><li>Display Name – Required field</li> <li>Description – Optional field</li> <li>Notes – Optional field</li> <li>Password Type – Web</li> <li>Username – Required field</li> <li>Password – Required field</li> <li>Website URL – Required field</li> </ol><p>The file can be up to 28.4 megabytes in size.</p> <h2 data-id="step-3-encrypt-your-csv-file">Step 3 – Encrypt your csv file</h2> <p>You will need to encrypt your csv file before uploading it to Passly for security reasons.</p> <ol><li>Login to Passly</li> <li>Navigate to Password Server – Import</li> <li>Click the “Import Passwords” tile<img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6032361/uploads/migrated/PBP6QQHE1SED/mceclip1.png" alt="mceclip1.png" class="embedImage-img importedEmbed-img"></img></li> <li>Step 1: Generate Your Encryption Key by entering an email address you have access to and clicking the Send button. <ol><li>You will receive and encryption key in email and this key will be valid for 24 hours only. If you do not upload your file within 24 hours you will need to request another encryption key.</li> </ol></li> <li>Step 2: Download the Password Importer by clicking on the Download Password Importer link <ol><li>zip is now downloaded on your computer.</li> </ol></li> <li>Extract the contents of the zip file to a place on your computer.</li> <li>Navigate into that folder and you will see PasswordImporter.exe. Double click it.</li> <li>You are now in the Passly Password Importer tool which will allow you to encrypt your csv file.</li> <li><img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6032361/uploads/migrated/DIM8NTXWO7RB/mceclip3.png" alt="mceclip3.png" class="embedImage-img importedEmbed-img"></img></li> <li>Upload your csv file by clicking the Upload button</li> <li>Enter the Encryption Key you received in email into step 3.</li> <li>If you will be uploading multiple files, check the “Remember this key for 24 hours” checkbox.</li> <li>Click the “Encrypt” button</li> <li>When the Process is completed it will open File Explorer and take you directly to the folder. If this didn’t happen, click the “Open .zip location” button.</li> </ol><h2 data-id="step-3-upload-your-encrypted-passwords-to-passly">Step 3 – Upload your encrypted passwords to Passly</h2> <ol><li>Now that you have your encrypted file, you need to upload it to Passly. Go back to Passly and click the “Next” button.</li> <li><img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6032361/uploads/migrated/89XL64P3X1Y4/mceclip4.png" alt="mceclip4.png" class="embedImage-img importedEmbed-img"></img></li> <li>Click or drag your encrypted zip file to the Upload area.</li> <li>Choose the Organization, Vault and Vault Folder you would like to import the passwords to.</li> <li><img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6032361/uploads/migrated/Z1FKYMC9RILH/mceclip5.png" alt="mceclip5.png" class="embedImage-img importedEmbed-img"></img></li> <li>Click the “Next” button.</li> <li>You will now need the encryption key that you received in the email. Put that key in the textbox displayed.</li> <li>Click the “Import Passwords” button.</li> <li>Your passwords are now being imported to the chosen vault. This could take some time. You will receive a notification when it has completed.</li> </ol> </article> </main>
