<main> <article class="userContent"> <p>This flexible asset will help you create a overview to gain visibility and control of print servers and related infrastructure in IT Glue. By "printing," we mean the total infrastructure that supports printing.</p> <p>The operational maturity of printing solutions can vary considerably from the chaotic to the well-dialed. Consider creating multiple entries when there are a mixture of technologies involved, for example, one for devices deployed with a Group Policy Object (GPO) in Active Directory and one to summarize ad-hoc, IP connected devices. In more complex environments, you could have one entry in the Printing list view for each print server, each department, or each physical area of a site. Use the description field to help identify each one.</p> <p>Preparation</p> <ul><li>Load the print server, printers, scanners, and plotters as configurations.</li> <li>Make sure that you have admin access to domain controller and print servers.</li> </ul><p>Instructions</p> <ol><li>Navigate to the organization you are onboarding.</li> <li>Go to the <strong>Configurations</strong> list view and filter it to display only the printers. <ul><li>Type <em>printer</em> in the <strong>Filter columns or Search keywords</strong> bar. <p><br><img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6032361/uploads/migrated/8940LX6LNZWX/configurations-it-glue.png" alt="Configurations___IT_Glue.png" class="embedImage-img importedEmbed-img"></img></p> </li> </ul></li> <li>Log into the print server Print Management console with the AD Admin credentials.</li> <li>Compare the two systems to check that each printer is entered in IT Glue, including network and USB devices.</li> <li>From IT Glue, edit each printer to include the following:</li> </ol><ul><li>Physical location</li> <li>Web admin credentials as an Embedded Password</li> <li>Interface information (If it is a USB printer, complete this with interface name as USB and the workstation that it is attached to in Notes.)</li> </ul> Click on <strong>Printing</strong> in the left sidebar and then on the <strong>+ New</strong> button in the top-right corner. <p><br><img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6032361/uploads/migrated/QCH4RSO5H8IX/printing-it-glue.png" alt="Printing___IT_Glue.png" class="embedImage-img importedEmbed-img"></img></p> In the <strong>Create Printing</strong> screen, complete each of these below fields: <ul><li> <strong>Site</strong> - Enter a description name.</li> <li> <strong>Print Server(s)</strong> - Search for and select one or more servers responsible for sharing printers at this site. </li> <li> <strong>Printer(s)</strong> - Search for and select one or more printers. </li> <li> <strong>Deployment</strong> - Select the deployment method from the drop-down list. </li> <li>Open <strong>Print Management</strong> on each of the servers. Check <strong>Published to AD</strong> box if the majority of printers are published in the Global Address List (GAL). </li> <li> <strong>Drivers Path</strong> - Enter the path to central installer files. </li> <li>If the client has a third-party vendor to maintain the printers onsite, enter the vendor's contact information in the <strong>Support Information</strong> field. </li> <li> <strong>Notes</strong> - Enter brief details of maintenance agreement, including account number. </li> </ul> Click <strong>Save</strong>. </article> </main>
