Remote Control conflict with StarScheduler.exe - Connect IT Community | Kaseya

Problem

When remote controlling to an agent, a 3rd party scheduling application (StarScheduler.exe) stops working.

Cause

The 3rd party program is incompatible with "mirror drivers" used by several remote control products, including Kaseya.

A "mirror driver" is a virtual display adapter, and is used to improve screen refresh performance when remote controlling machines with older Windows operating systems. Kaseya uses a mirror driver on agents with the following operating systems: -

servers with Windows 2008 R2 and earlier

workstations with Windows Vista and earlier

Resolution

The following steps can be used to bypass the mirror driver: -

1) download the attached file - KaseyaRemoteControlHost.zip - and extract KaseyaRemoteControlHost.config

2) copy to the Kaseya agent installation directory on the agent machine in question (by default, C:\Program Files (x86)\Kaseya\[serverID])

With the config file in place, KRC sessions to the agent will bypass the driver. This will avoid the conflict, but please note that video performance may be degraded as a result of bypassing the driver.
