This

will prevent the network consolidation method that can cause the following errors:

Failed to perform the archive consolidation

Backup failed - Clone ArchiveNumber of backups left: 1Type: Image

-

I see one or both of these warning messages in my BUDR Synthetic enabled Backup

client backup logs:

This machine does not have enough local hard drive space to copy both the original and new

backups sets for a synthetic full backup. As such, the original backup will be copied locally, and the

new synthetic full backups will be created directly over the network, which may decrease reliability.

This machine does not have enough local hard drive space to copy backups sets for a synthetic full

backup. As such, synthetic full backups will be performed over the network, which may decrease

reliability.

-

How do I ensure that this is setup properly in BUDR?

Answer

You will need to at least match the size of the synthetic full backup on the machine

(the BUDR-based agent or the offsite server), no more, however, you should have

more, in case something else writes to it.

Partial local consolidation is performed when the size of the previous backup set + 2

GB is present in free space on the BUDR-based agent or the offsite server.

Complete local consolidation is performed when twice the size of the previous backup

set + 2 GB is present in free space on the on the BUDR-based agent or the offsite

server.

Any local drive on the local server that has enough space is used. Different drives are

used when copying the old and new sets.

This information specifically applies to networked based (\\Server\Share) image

locations (the BUDR endpoint) and/or directories (the offsite server).

Applies To

Kaseya Backup & Disaster Recovery

BUDR - Backup
