<main> <article class="userContent"> <h2 data-id="summary"><strong>SUMMARY</strong></h2> <p>Why does my bare metal backup only restore the system volume?</p> <h2 data-id="issue"><strong>ISSUE</strong></h2> <p></p> <h3 data-id="purpose">Purpose</h3> <p>Bare metal backups and file-level restores.</p> <h3 data-id="description">Description</h3> <p>When restoring from a bare metal backup, only the system volume (typically C:\) is restored.</p> <h3 data-id="cause">Cause</h3> <p>Windows bare metal backups only back up the system volume. Partition info is backed up as well, so when restoring from a bare metal backup, only the system volume’s data will be restored but the entire logical geometry of the client will be restored.</p> <h3 data-id="resolution">Resolution</h3> <p>After restoring a bare metal backup, volumes other than the system volume are present but no data is restored.
