<main> <article class="userContent"> <h2 data-id="summary"><strong>SUMMARY</strong></h2> <p>BDC Share and Local Security Policies</p> <h2 data-id="issue"><strong>ISSUE</strong></h2> <p></p> <p>If you cannot access the <a name="kanchor378" id="kanchor378"></a>Backup Data Connector (BDC) share from Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 2008, you may need to adjust your local security policy, LAN Manager authentication level to LM and NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated.</p> <p>To adjust your LAN Manager authentication level</p> <ol><li>On your Windows machine, click <strong>Start</strong> <strong>></strong> <strong>Run</strong> then type <strong>secpol.msc</strong> and hit Enter.</li> <li>Click <strong>Local Policies </strong>then click<strong> Security Options</strong> </li> <li>Next, navigate to and double-click <strong>Network Security: LAN Manager authentication level</strong>.</li> <li>Use the menu to select <strong>LM and NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated</strong>.</li> <li>Click <strong>OK</strong>.</li> <li>Now try accessing the Backup Data Connector share again.</li> </ol> </article> </main>
