<main> <article class="userContent"> <h2 data-id="summary"><strong>SUMMARY</strong></h2> <p>Unable to See which Disks are Excluded from the Backup of a Virtual Machine</p> <h2 data-id="issue"><strong>ISSUE</strong></h2> <p></p> <h3 data-id="purpose">Purpose</h3> <p>To inform customers that the Independent Disks and Physical RDMs for VMware Virtual Machines that are excluded from backups by default, may not be seen initially in the backup messages.</p> <h3 data-id="description">Description</h3> <p>From Unitrends Software Version 7.2.0, Unitrends support backups of Virtual Machines (VMs) that contain Independent Disks and/or Physical RDMs (pRDMs). These types of disks are excluded by default from the backups of those VMs, but won’t be seen in the backup messages for that VM to indicate that they were excluded from the backup.</p> <h3 data-id="cause">Cause</h3> <p>This happens because disk information for that VM is not populated initially.</p> <h3 data-id="resolution">Resolution</h3> <p>On the left-hand pane, click on the vCenter/ESX Server that the VM is on. Then, on the <i>backup > 1-Time backup</i> or <i>backup > Schedule backup</i> page, click on the “disk icon” for the VM that has the Independent Disks and/or pRDMs. A pop-up will indicate that those disks are excluded for that VM. Now, from the next backup, you can see which disks are excluded form that backup.</p> </article> </main>
