<main> <article class="userContent"> <h2 data-id="summary"><strong>SUMMARY</strong></h2> <p>System will not boot</p> <h2 data-id="issue"><strong>ISSUE</strong></h2> <p></p> <h3 data-id="description">Description</h3> <p>System will not boot. </p> <p>After grub loads you see an error stating:</p> <p>error: mounting /dev/root on /sysroot as ext3: bad superblock</p> <p>mount: could not find filesystem '/dev/root'</p> <p>setuproot: moving /dev failed: No such file or directory</p> <p>setuproot: error mounting /proc: No such file or directory</p> <p>setuproot: error mounting /sys: No such file or directory</p> <p>switchroot: mount failed: No such file or directory</p> <p>Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!</p> <h3 data-id="cause">Cause</h3> <p>The motherboard disk setting is set for IDE and not AHCI.</p> <h3 data-id="resolution">Resolution</h3> <p>Go into the BIOS using the DEL key and go to the [ADVANCED Menu].
