<main> <article class="userContent"> <h2 data-id="summary"><strong>SUMMARY</strong></h2> <p>When powering on an Instantly Recovered virtual machine, you may encounter an error - "The file specified is not a virtual disk" -</p> <h2 data-id="issue"><strong>ISSUE</strong></h2> <p></p> <p><em>This topic applies to VMware only</em></p> <p> </p> <p>When powering on an Instantly Recovered virtual machine, you may encounter an error similar to the following:</p> <p> </p> <p>This can be caused by a corrupt backup file (missing or corrupt meta data in the backup, for example). The Instant VM Recovery process completes successfully, but the actual VM is corrupt and cannot be powered on. To attempt to solve this issue, you can create the backup again, this time making sure CBT is turned off to attempt to fix any errors. Also, you can try a regular full restore of the VM.</p> </article> </main>
