<main> <article class="userContent"> <h2 data-id="summary"><strong>SUMMARY</strong></h2> <p>Error installing ReliableDR and domain password policies</p> <h2 data-id="issue"><strong>ISSUE</strong></h2> <p></p> <p><strong>Problem:</strong></p> <p>During installation of ReliableDR you receive a SQL error indicating that a password validation failed.</p> <p><strong>Cause:</strong></p> <p>During installation, ReliableDR installs a SQL Express database instance and creates a ReliableDR user with a predefined password. The length of this password is 10 characters in ReliableDR 3.x and 12 characters in ReliableDR 4.x.</p> <p>If the ReliableDR Windows server is joined to a domain that enforces a password policy length longer than that of the predefined password, you receive the above error during installation.</p> <p><strong>Resolution:</strong></p> <ol><li>Uninstall ReliableDR and SQL Server Express using the Windows Control Panel.</li> <li>Delete any remaining SQL RDR databas items by removing this folder: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.SQLRDR</li> <li>Change the Windows password policy length enforcement rule in the domain, or remove the server from the domain during installation and verify its password requirements.<br><br> You can review server policy following this tutorial: <a rel="nofollow" href="/home/leaving?allowTrusted=1&target=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.wikihow.com%2FDisable-Windows-Server-2008-Password-Complexity-Requirement">http://www.wikihow.com/Disable-Windows-Server-2008-Password-Complexity-Requirement</a> </li> <li>Install ReliableDR again.</li> </ol> </article> </main>
