<main> <article class="userContent"> <h2 data-id="summary"><strong>SUMMARY</strong></h2> <p>Using Tags to Skip VMs (Citrix XenServer)</p> <h2 data-id="issue"><strong>ISSUE</strong></h2> <p></p> <p><em>These instructions apply to <strong>PHD Virtual Backup v5.x</strong> and above.</em></p> <p>If you create a backup job that includes multiple VMs but would like to exclude some of those VMs from the scheduled backups, rather than editing the job, you can use a Tag within XenCenter, PHDVB:skip.</p> <p>When you would like to begin backing up the VM again, you can simply remove the tag the same way it was applied.</p> <h3 data-id="to-skip-a-vm-with-a-tag-in-xencenter">To skip a VM with a tag in XenCenter</h3> <ol><li>Within XenCenter, right-click the VM you would like to skip and select <strong>Properties</strong>. The tag is added to the Tags dialog.<br><img alt="User-added image" src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6032361/uploads/migrated/4EU6NSF8TKA3/eid-ka01w000000tcrz-feoid-00n40000002yvfa-refid-0em40000000mkoe." class="embedImage-img importedEmbed-img"></img></li> <li>Click <strong>OK</strong>.</li> </ol><p>The next time you run a backup that includes the VM, it will be skipped, unless Ignore virtual machine skips is selected during the backup wizard.</p> <p><strong>Note</strong>: In addition to the VM, the skip tag can be added to individual virtual disks. When applied at the virtual disk level, though, the disks are always skipped regardless if Ignore virtual machine skips is selected during the backup wizard.</p> </article> </main>
