<main> <article class="userContent"> <h2 data-id="summary"><strong>SUMMARY</strong></h2> <p>How to Configure DNS Settings on a Unitrends Backup Appliance</p> <h2 data-id="issue"><strong>ISSUE</strong></h2> <p></p> <h3 data-id="purpose">Purpose</h3> <p>This article provides the steps necessary to configure through the RRC a Unitrends backup appliance to use a specified DNS server for name/IP lookups.</p> <h3 data-id="applies-to">Applies To</h3> <p>Unitrends backup appliance software version 6.X</p> <h3 data-id="configure-dns-settings">Configure DNS Settings</h3> <p>To add, modify, or remove DNS servers:</p> <p>Select <b>Configure > Network > DNS</b> and insert the DNS address into the <b>DNS Address </b>field and click <b>Add</b>.</p> <p>To change the search order of a DNS server, click on the server's address in the <b>Current DNS Address Order</b> list and drag and drop it in the desired location.</p> <p>To remove a DNS server address, click on the server's IP address and select <b>Remove</b>.</p> <p>Add a DNS domain name by entering the domain name in the <b>DNS Domain</b> field and click <b>Add</b>.</p> <p>Click <b>Confirm</b> button to save changes.</p> <p><b>Important:</b> To use the appliance with DNS, the appliance must be added to the DNS, reverse lookup zones must be configured, and a PTR record for the appliance must be created. If not, entries for all clients being protected by the appliance must be added to the hosts file on the appliance.</p> </article> </main>
