<main> <article class="userContent"> <h2 data-id="summary"><strong>SUMMARY</strong></h2> <p>Restore of a Hyper-V guest to an alternate location fails with error "Cluster configuration missing."</p> <h2 data-id="issue"><strong>ISSUE</strong></h2> <p></p> <h3 data-id="purpose">Purpose</h3> <p>Restore to alternate Hyper-V host in a cluster configuration</p> <h3 data-id="description">Description</h3> <p>When restoring a Hyper-V VM to an alternate host in a cluster configuration, the restore fails with the error “Cluster configuration missing. Restore to original location.”</p> <h3 data-id="cause">Cause</h3> <p>Unitrends requires the VM’s cluster configuration information to be able to restore a VM to an alternate host within the Hyper-V cluster. When a Hyper-V VM is deleted from Hyper-V Virtual Machine Manager (VMM) it deletes the cluster configuration.</p> <h3 data-id="resolution">Resolution</h3> <p>The VM may be restored to the original host, or the .vhd/.vhdx file may be restored to an alternate host and the VM may be rebuilt.</p> <h3 data-id="third-party-sources">Third-Party Sources</h3> <p> </p> <p> </p> </article> </main>
