For details, see <a rel="nofollow" href="/home/leaving?allowTrusted=1&target=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.unitrends.com%2Fdocuments%2Flegacy-rs-ueb-admin-guide%2Fdefault.htm%23cshid%3D1910">Windows integrated bare metal recovery</a> in the</i> Unitrends Administrator's Guide.</p> <h3 data-id="description">Description</h3> <p>If you are trying to perform a Hot Bare Metal backup of a Windows client and it fails for either a Dynamic Disk or a GPT (GUUID Partition Table) on the root drive, you need to create a Cold Bare Metal Boot CD to perform a Cold Bare Metal Backup.</p> <p> </p> <h3 data-id="cause">Cause</h3> <p>Create a Bare Metal Backup for Windows Clients where Hot Bare Metal Backups fail out.<br> </p> <h3 data-id="resolution">Resolution</h3> <p>There are two ways to go about doing this, either through a SSH session using Putty to the local server or physically attaching a monitor, keyboard and mouse to the local server.</p> <p>First method through SSH: run the command:</p> <p>/usr/bp/bin/dpuconfig<br><br><i><b> Note For DPU 3000 systems only</b>: use these commands instead:</i><br> TERM=xterm<br> /usr/bp/bin/dpuconfig</p> <p>Choose option 4</p> <p>Choose option 1</p> <p>Choose option 2</p> <p>Choose the client you wish to create the Bare Metal Backup for by using the arrow keys and press enter to select the client</p> <p>Answer the question concerning the root disk, Yes for SCSI or No for IDE</p> <p>Enter Network Gateway</p> <p>Enter Netmask</p> <p>Answer question on firewall between client and system</p> <p>Choose whether or not you want the Cold Bare Metal backup to start automatically when booting and the next step creates the image.</p> <p>Once the image is created, it will try and burn the ISO, if no CD is present, the burn will fail and the ISO is located and accessible from the Server’s IP \baremetals and can be copied to the local workstation and burned.</p> <p>If you are doing this from the actual console, follow the same steps above.</p> <p> </p> <h3 data-id="third-party-sources">Third-Party Sources</h3> <p> </p> <p> </p> </article> </main>
